Rebeccat doesn't collect your data. Not your browsing, not the pages you read, not what it hides. It can't, because none of it ever leaves your device.

Rebeccat is a browser extension that hides personal information, such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, card numbers and ID numbers, on the pages you have open. It's built to be private by default, with nothing to opt out of.

How it protects you without seeing you

To hide personal information, Rebeccat has to find it, so it reads the text of the pages you visit, the words in images on screen, video captions and PDFs you open. All of that happens on your device, using a detection model and a text recognition engine that ship inside the extension. Nothing it reads is stored or sent anywhere. It works offline.

To read text in an image or show a PDF, Rebeccat loads that file from the same address the page already uses, just as your browser would. The file is processed on your device and goes nowhere else.

What stays on your device

Rebeccat keeps a few settings in your browser's local extension storage: whether hiding is on, your display settings (solid ink or frosted glass, reveal on hover), your media settings (text in images, blur all media, the PDF viewer), the words you chose to always hide, the sites you chose to skip, and your Pro license key if you have one. Your always-hide list may contain personal information you typed yourself, and your license key contains the email you paid with. None of it ever leaves your device, and it's deleted when you remove the extension.

Buying Pro

Pro is sold on this website through Paddle.com, which acts as our reseller (Merchant of Record) and handles payment and sales tax. When you buy, Paddle collects your name, email, and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email, what you bought, and your order id, and use them only to give you your key, answer your questions, and keep the records the law requires.

When you look up your key, the order id (and the email, if you enter one) is sent to our key server, which checks it with Paddle and answers your key. We don't store it.

When the key page finds your key, it hands it to Rebeccat in the same browser, so you don't have to copy it. That handover happens inside your browser; nothing is sent to us.

Your key is checked inside the extension, on your device. Rebeccat never sends the key, or anything else, anywhere, whether you use Pro or not.

This website

This website uses no analytics or trackers of its own. The homepage loads Paddle's checkout, which may set the cookies it needs for payment and fraud prevention, under Paddle's policy.

Why it asks for access to all sites

Personal information can show up on any page, and Rebeccat has to read a page to hide what's on it. It uses that access for one thing only: finding and hiding personal information on your screen.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date. Our promise won't: your data stays yours.
